As this is such a broad and personal subject, we will leave this section brief and suggest only a couple of starting points.
The Art of Happiness is a classic guide from the world’s happiest spiritual leader. Psychologist Howard Cutler interviews the Dalia Lama and interprets his explanation of Buddhist teaching through the lens of western science. In many ways this book sums up what we all know innately, and don’t act upon.
For a more modern and secular take try Happines by Design by Paul Dolan, Professor of Behavioural Science at the LSE and one of the world’s leading happiness experts.
And our personal favourite book on happiness: Choosing Happier. Unlikely to win any literary prizes it is nevertheless an outstanding synthesis of the latest research and historic wisdom on happiness.
